"Hope"

The art program I was in gave me the assignment to use gold leaf in a piece, and every time I thought about it, these bright, glowing angel wings kept coming to mind. I was still figuring out the setting and colors when my daughter burst in, begging to put up Christmas decorations. But it was right before Halloween!

That's definitely early for most people, but it hit me hard because I have seasonal depression. And so, after her request, that dread started to sink in because I began thinking about winter coming. But then, I considered the joy that decorating for Christmas always brings my daughter. And I imagined this bright angel amidst this cold, snowy scene, and I thought about Christmas and the hope that the angel brought to the shepherds. And it gave me hope that even through the dark and dreariness - and the cold! - that there are things so much more important to be joyful about.
