"How is he doing this?" I was captivated.
At 5 years old, I didn't understand the elements of art.
I just knew that the way my daddy was drawing his coffee cup on that napkin was astonishing.
This was the moment I knew I wanted to create art.
For most of my childhood, I would sit and sketch my cats, horses, plants...everything.
In middle and high school, art classes easily became my favorites.
However, in college I shifted gears towards social work, eventually serving vulnerable children for a few years before deciding to stay home to homeschool my two amazing children.
Art was kept as a hobby, only picking up a pencil here and there when I had time. It wasn't until years later when I began refinishing furniture that the captivation set back in. With every brushstroke, the desire to be an artist grew again. And at one opportune moment I saw an ad for an online art program.
I prayed, talked with my husband, and then I jumped.
Now, I create art that spreads messages of encouragement and peace. Most paintings are started by sketching, layering a variety of materials, and then every one is finished with my preferred medium - deep, rich oil paints. Drawing inspiration from Scripture, nature, family, and dreams, I create art that I pray touches all who see it.
